2000 - 1209 BC. Canaanite period. Canaanite city to settlement period of Israelite's.
1000 - 586 BC. Israelite period. King David captured city and it became capital of Israelite kingdom and called City of David.
537 - 332 BC. Early Persian period. Exile of Babylonian's until return to Zion.
333 - 164 BC. Hellenistic period. Alexander the Great captured Israel from Persians.
129 - 63 BC. Hasmonean Period. Regained it's previous stature as religious and national center. Fortified walls were built and castles beautified Jerusalem.
63 - 4 BC. Roman Period. Pompeii captured Jerusalem. King Herod came to power and reconstructed temple and extended Temple Mount.
4 BC - 135 CE. Period of Commissioners.
132 - 135 CE. Late Roman Period.
324 - 638 CE. Byzantine Period. Christian rule, with rule of Constantine.
614 - 329 CE. Short Persian Period. Byzantine ousted Persians. Byzantine massacred Jewish people.
